About Split Keyboards

Should I learn a new layout alongside my new keyboard?

Not necessarily - but it can be a nice opportunity.

There are alternative keyboard layouts beyond the common QWERTY layout. Examples of these include Dvorak, Colemak and many others.

You may be inclined to learn a new layout right away, but we recommend to start typing on a split keyboard with the layout you were already used to.

Learning a new character layout can be very challenging. Learning a new physical layout, such as when moving from a normal to a split keyboard, can be challenging too. If you add both together, the learning curve may be too large and you might grow discouraged or disinterested as a result.

Of course, if you feel up for the challenge, we won't stop you - go for it!
