Destinations

Whether you have to pay import fees depends on the destination of your order.

Within the European Union

As we reside within the European Union, if your order ships to a country within the European Union, you will not have to pay import fees or additional taxes.

All sales taxes for your order are collected by splitkb.com. The amount of sales tax collected is based on your local country's tax rate. For more details, please read (What is sales tax, and do I have to pay it?)../before-placing-your-order/what-is-vat.

Norway

We collect VAT on orders from Norway. You won't have to pay customs fees or duties on your order.

United Kingdom

When ordering from the United Kingdom, you generally won't have to pay import fees when your order has a value below 135GBP. You can read more at Can I order from the UK?.

European Economic Area and Switzerland

While countries including Iceland and Liechtenstein are part of the European Economic Area, shipments to these countries generally do incur import fees. As such, we do not collect sales taxes on your order. Instead, your shipping carrier will charge you the taxes as well as any applicable duties and fees.

Height of the fees

The height of the fee can vary. It consists of up to three aspects:

Sales taxes: Import fees only apply when we have not collected sales taxes on your order. These taxes are calculated based on the value of the items in your order and the shipping costs. For example, if your local sales tax rate is 20%, the items in your order are €80 and the shipping cost was €20, then you'll have to pay (80+20) * 20% = €20 in sales taxes.
Duties: Duties may apply to your order in select cases. This depends on the policies your country has established. In most countries, duties do not apply to orders from splitkb.com.
Service fees: Service fees are charged by the shipping carrier to compensate them for handling the paperwork. For DHL Globalmail and DPD, the service fees are usually the same as you're used to from your country's local shipping carrier's fees. For FedEx and DHL Express, these fees usually range from €4 to €20.

So, in this example, if you're placing an order with €80 in items, have €20 in shipping fees and if duties do not apply to your items, you'll generally pay between €24 and €40 in fees.

Warning: Exceptions to this do apply! The import fees for Brazil, India and Turkey are known to be very high and can exceed the value of the order. For this reason, we don't always offer shipping to these countries, but you may request a manual order if you're aware of these steep fees by sending us an email so we can send you an invoice manually.
