Can I tent my keyboard?

What is tenting?

Tenting is the angle at which your keyboard halves are adjusted from side to side. Similarly, tilting is the angle at which your keyboard is adjusted from front to back. You can see this visualised over at What are tenting and tilting? in our documentation.

Do I need these pucks if I want to tent my keyboard?

Not necessarily. You could use just about anything to adjust the angle, from a book to a pair of socks. We made the tenting pucks as a premium option, as they're convenient to use, are lightweight, and don't need to be removed when not tenting your keyboard, too.

Which camera tripods can I use?

Just about any! The pucks have a 1/4th inch threaded tripod mounting hole, which is the standard for camera tripods. You'll find that most of them are compatible. If you choose to use a puck, we'll suggest a tripod to use in a later question.

Do the pucks stick out when using the keyboard without a tripod?

No, the keyboard can be used without a tripod. They can stick out just a little, but the rubber bumpons on your case will stick out more - the keyboard will sit stable, and can be used either with or without a tripod - especially convenient when on the go.

Can I add tenting pucks later?

Yes, you can. However, you will need a new set of bottom plates, as the bottom plate needs to have a puck-sized hole in it in order to fit the tenting puck. These bottom plates are available separately.

Which tripod do you recommend?

There's a lot of choice out there! We've extensively tested the tripods we stock, and can recommend the ones you're able to choose from our shop. We chose the Manfrotto MP3-BK tripods for their low weight, small size and footprint, and yet enough adaptability to allow for a good range of angles.
