Kyria revision 1 Build Guide

Build guide for the first revision Kyria.

The Kyria rev 1 was available for purchase until January 2022. It has since been replaced by newer revisions.

TRRS cables only. The Kyria rev 1 only works with TRRS cables. The extra R is important: there are two rings, along with the tip and the sleeve. A TRRS cable has four shiny connectors separated by three black rings. Do not attempt to use a different cable, as it will damage your controller.

For the build, please follow the Aurora Build Guide, taking into account the remarks below:

  • If a feature is not supported by the Kyria rev 1, you can skip the chapter in the build guide. This applies to the following:
    • Per-key RGB
    • Switch sockets, unless you're using Mill-Max sockets
    • Power switches
    • JST jacks
    • Tenting puck (supported from rev 1.3 and up)
  • The Kyria rev 1 circuit board is reversible, meaning both the left and right half use the same circuit board. As a consequence:
    • Be sure to assemble a left and a right side. Use a piece of tape or similar to mark the top side of both halves, so you can refer to it as you assemble the keyboard.
    • For the OLED display to work, you'll need to solder the four jumpers on the top side of the PCB, near the controller area.
    • Pay extra attention to the controller placement. The controller is to be placed with its rear side facing you, within the marked outline on the side the controller is placed on. Do not use the unmarked set of holes!
  • The Kyria rev 1 only supports QMK firmware. You can use the precompiled files to test the keyboard. To make changes to the firmware, you'll need to compile it manually.

If you need any assistance during your build, please see Getting help.
